Kurtlar Vadisi-Irak

There is a movie being shown over here in Istanbul that is generating mixed reactions and is becoming a topic of conversation. It's called Kurtlar Vadisi Irak ( Valley of The Wolves- Iraq). Rumour has it that US and British troops are encouraged NOT to watch the movie. I haven't seen it personally since it is in Turkish but I would like to watch the English version.

I think the showing of this movie is perfect timing. Especially with the new photos of the treatment of Iraqi soldiers in Abu Ghraib.

A lot has already been said about the US invasion of Iraq. Saddam's "weapons of massive destruction" has yet to be found (or is it because there really aren't any?!). When will this all end? Aren't we supposed to be more wary about Iran's nuclear weapons ? Surely, there's more to life than fighting wars.

as with NoKor's nukes, Duke. etcetera.

when will war end? war being profitable and a goodgood distraction, probably not.

harp on it being a tool to stifle growth and- why not? it probably will never end.

TP ahhh pareho pala tayong movie addicts!

Lord of War was a little bit disturbing to my taste but that's how reality is.

pobs hello! As i have gathered, the original version is in English even if it's a Turkish Production. They even have some American actors ( Billy Zane and Gary Busey are the mostfamous among them) Yun nga lang since I am here, the movie is dubbed in Turkish.

All these WARS and Saddam. I can't think of any reasons why I don't like to watch war movies.

I'll probably go with you watching Kung-Fu & Jacky Chan tricks than these, Princess Duke. Stay safe even if you are in a movie theatre.

Oh yeah, the UA Cinema at PPlace has been closed for renovation so I'm sticking with fake DVD's.

K You know what's ironic? War movies are actually "anti-war". The mroal of tehir story is always peace, love, happiness and freedom.

I never liked watching war movies until recently. I started with the Band of Brothers series of HBO and for some reason, I got hooked and carried on with others like Saving Ryan's Private este... Saving Private Ryan(lol).

Reallu UA is closed for renovations? buti naman! their cinemas just look like a giant TV. Talo ng Greenbelt in Manila! dibidi watching muna ;)

You know, they say that there will always be war as long as people exists. In a lot of ways it's true, because war comes in various forms. Of course there's the literal war with guns and bombs, religious wars, wars of opposing groups(political) like the Republican and the Democrat. We even have our daily tag of war within ourselves. And the list goes on. Wars exists with humanity in many forms.

There will always be wars as long as the capitalists exsist. All is business. Here in America one way for people not to notice what is going on in Iraq they have put all sorts of reality TV. Jump up the prices of almost everything so people will work overtime. Finally raise the prices in Gas so that it would not be too noticable that they are taking advantage of the oil supply in Iraq. Then they scare you off in the news saying that there are rapists, killers, exconvicts, diseases and numerous homeless people that americans should pay more attention to than a silly war in Iraq that they started and will profit from it for sure.

angelove I agree with you. Since time in memorial wars come side by side with civilization and humanity.

It will never cease to end but sometimes I still want to be more optimistic and the idealist in me wants to have peace on earth (ala Miss Universe!)

Meliza I tell you,the main reason for all these is BIG BUCKS! I just find it so pathetic that your president still uses 9-11 as an excuse to go to war when actually it's all about the oil.

amen. a friend lost her son in iraq. until now, i still can't see what bushjr is "fighting" for - if you ask me, it's all scare tactics: he wants his constituents to be scared and phobic and paranoid, that way, he'll have an excuse to be the "hero", to be able to use every means available to eliminate all the terrorists and make america super invincible once again. unfortunately, it's at the expense of the lives of young men and women who were made to think they were serving a mighty purpose. kawawa naman.

sorry, ive seen fahrenheit 911 kasi, so i'm like a michael moore advocacy supporter, haha.

Jhaya Really? you like the mala Lara Croft attire? Ako naman I don't have a single military like outfit :D

soy Conflicts can always be resolved in one way or another. Sad thing is, war seems to be the top choice.

i saw valley of the wolves iraq it was a very good movie in my opinion. i grew up watching the 80's movies about the arab terrorists (who only know how to say Allahu Akbar) and the american all white hero saving the day. but i know this ideology didn't just drop out of the hollywood sky in the 80's remember "cowboys and indians" the game we played as kids lol
i bring this up cause i read alot of bad reviews about the movie and how it was ANTI-SEMETIC and blah blah blah

we live in a time of lies, cover ups, and even stains on a dress of monika lewinsky instead of the real news going on at the time in palestine or lobbing missiles into afghanistan. the ones that suffer is the regular joe around the world. not bush not dick or his x-company that will rebuild iraq paid by and with iraqs oil. the ones that own the american oil and are over charging us in the u.s. beacuse "the middle east is unstable" it seems as if an unstable middle east is a great benefit for israel since early 1900's and now it will serve the new "AMERICAN CENTURY" i haven't been much of religouse person but when i think about the crap they feed us via fox, cnn and many other news channels only thing i can do is pray to God that the average joe's around the world wake up, open their eyes and understand that the wool is over their eyes oh and that they payed for tha wool LOL

if you wanna read a good book
try "by way of deception" by victor ostrovsky and claire hoy
than you will really be dirtubed by
"LORD OF WAR"

also truetorahjews.org is a good site to get distubed by the content but in a WAKE UP way
